What is Will?

Will in philosophical discussions, like generally in the English language, refers to the desire of an individual, and the acts done when such decisions are put into effect. Actions made according to a person's will are called "willing" or "voluntary". In general the word will does not refer to one desire amongst many however, but the end result, or in other words the choice, decision, or determination which people come to about what they want. The will is in turn important within philosophy because a person's will is one of the most distinct and recognizable aspects or parts of any individual's human mind, along with reason and understanding. It is one of the things which makes a person who they are, and it is especially important in ethics, because it is the part which determines how people act, at least when they act deliberately.
One of the repeating questions discussed throughout all periods of philosophical history is the question of "free will" which asks how will can be truly free if the actions of people have natural or divine causes which determine them, but which are not really under the control of people. The question is directly connected to discussions of what freedom is, and also the "problem of evil", because it brings into question whether people really cause their own acts.

Concerning "free will": most early modern philosophers, including Hobbes, Spinoza, Locke and Hume believed that the term was frequently used in a wrong or illogical sense, and that the philosophical problems concerning any difference between "will" and "free will" are due to verbal confusion (because all will is free):

The Will of God:

or divine will refers to the concept of God as having a plan for humanity, and as such desires to see such plan fulfilled. Thus the concept of God's will may relate to various religious concepts:
Divine law -
the concept that man's law follow God's will
Salvation - the concept that claims it is God's will that human beings be saved from death.
Providentialism - is a belief that God's will is evident in all occurrences. It can further be described as a belief that the power of God (or Providence) is so complete that humans cannot equal his abilities, or fully understand his plan.
Predestination - a Christian concept of God's will for the destiny of man. Those who believe in predestination, such as John Calvin, believe that before the creation God determined the fate of the universe throughout all of time and space. Predestination is a decree by God that there are certain souls that were previously appointed to salvation.

Submission and Surrender - are terms referring to the acceptance of God's will.

"God willing" - is an expression, and can often be misinterpreted in figures of speech.

Praying God's Will Over Our Lives

Now that you have accepted Christ and are in daily prayer, and you have realized that You can trust God and are even obeying His Commandments, what's next?? Most people can't get to the point of being in the right condition of receiving God's direction. The first four pages of this section were about being in the right condition and the last three pages are about moving forward with God's direction instead of our own.

Remove Our Desires

The first thing we have to understand is that, it is very difficult to know God's will in our lives when we are constantly being clouded by our own earthly desires. This is a prayer that I pray often.

Father God I come to You in thanks, thanking You for changing me and teaching me how to be in a position to receive Your guidance. I know that Your power and glory can do the things that I cannot. I come to You Lord asking for You to remove the desires of my heart and mind. Replace them with YOUR desires, change me Lord into the person that YOU want me to be. I don't want any of the earthly desires whatsoever, I only want Your desires, What is Your will in my life? Direct me into the motivation to receive the desires that You are having in my heart, so that I may have the drive to achieve only what You have placed in front of me. I thank You Father for changing me into Your desire, and for showing me that the greater things in life come from You.

God has great things in store for us that can only be achieved when we get ourselves out of the way. Our entire lives have been surrounded by the me me me facto, and we are held back more because of ourselves than any other element in life. We must be rid of the earthly Lust, Desire, and Covet.

Lust - Desire - Covet

God's will is normally the opposite of our desires. We are driven by the lusts of the flesh, which include not just physical lusts like some people assume; it also includes lusts of power, control, love of money, earthly possessions, and even freedom can be a lust of the flesh. Our personal desires can be very strong, and it has even been considered the strongest force of nature on the planet. These forces of lust and desires of an earthly human nature can be extremely difficult to get away from. Now when we call in Christ, and we are in the right condition and position to receive His blessings, He can remove these earthly desires.

The really amazing thing in that as God transforms our hearts and minds into the people He wants us to be, the earthly desires go away and the Godly desires thrive. And when these changes happen, you will look back and be totally shocked to see the way you were. I look back now and I just can't believe how worldly my desires used to be. I can't believe the lusts that were driving myself. Now I am in a position that God has His desires in my heart, and I have never been happier. That's because, I now have balance and peace, I am always full and never have all these needs of the world.

You see people of Satan's earthly desires are never satisfied, they always want to have something they don't have. That is the devil's greatest tool, making people want what they don't need and in many cases what they shouldn't have. . If you look at most sin and most of what keeps people unhappy, it's because of what they don't have, and it's because of desire, and it mostly flairs down to a future lesson of "covet", which is the lusting of the flesh, lusting after outer people's things, worldly desires. And these lusts will take your focus off of God faster and easier that any other thing in life.

If you want a happier more fulfilling live with more joy and satisfaction, the absolute only answer is thru Christ Jesus. Give Him your desires and Ask for His will in your life. When you do this, you will find a whole new world beyond anything that this world of filthy rags could ever offer.

God's Will

Praying for God's will in your life means praying for a power beyond what we are personally capable of doing. Here are a few prayer topics that you can pray about:

Praying to Know God's Will in Your Life

Praying to Know God as a Powerful Presence

Praying to Know God as Your Savior

Praying to Have God as Lord over Every Area of Your Life

Praying for God to Give You His Answers

Praying for a Solid Foundation with Him

Prayer to Know the Power of Prayer

Praying for the Joy that Comes with His Will

God's will is love, and you are going to quickly realize that when we pray for God's will, He blesses us with the abundance of everything in life we could ever want. He gives us blessings of love every single day and we are no longer being robbed by Satan in the Godly gifts.

Here are some scriptures for His Will:

Ezekiel 36: 26-27
I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you;
I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.
I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes,
and you will keep My judgments and do them.

Romans 8:28-30
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God,
to those who are the called according to His purpose.
For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.
Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called;
whom He called, these He also justified;
and whom He justified, these He also glorified.

James 4:13-15 (God's Will)

Come now, you who say,
"Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city,
spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit";
whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow.
For what is your life?
It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.
Instead you ought to say, "If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that."

Romans 12:2 (Desire the Perfect Will of God)

And do not be conformed to this world,
but be transformed by the renewing of your mind,
that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
